Ilford, East London
You've just joined something a little different. A running group built on the belief that the best version of your run is still ahead of you — whatever your age, pace, or starting point.
Urban Runner is a barefoot and minimalist running community
based in Ilford, East London. We were founded on a simple idea:
most running injuries aren't caused by how much you run —
they're caused by how you run.
We're here to fix that.
OYF isn't just a motto — it's a proven idea.
When you run with good form and move naturally,
your body becomes more efficient with every passing year.
Your tendons get stronger. Your technique sharpens. Your confidence grows.
Age is your advantage, not your enemy.
"It's not about going barefoot. It's about running the way your body was designed to."
Rak is the founder of Urban Runner and your guide to running better. His coaching is practical, evidence-based, and deeply personal. Whether you're working around a persistent injury, chasing a new PB, or simply trying to enjoy running more — Rak sees what others miss.
"Every runner has a better run inside them. My job is to help you find it."
Urban Runner is a community first. From the
Water Station — our members-only forum — to races,
social events, and podcast conversations, you'll find your people here.
Shoeless banter is, of course, always encouraged.
Once a month, we open our track session to everyone —
friends, family, curious strangers, complete beginners. If you've ever
wondered what Urban Runner is about, this is your invitation to come and find out.
No pressure, no pace requirement. Just good running and good company.
